We are extremely happy with the services we receive at Casselton Veterinary Service. My only suggestion would be more transparency in costs, as I am often surprised at the individual costs for certain services.

I had 2 appointments this week. The first one was to put my kitty to sleep. They were very compassionate and kind. The second appointment was for a UTI. Dr Dodds is wonderful! Hopefully we can resolve it.

I didn t really get any explanations during the visit on what was being done or why but it was a routine visit. It would be nice if they would ask some of the questions ahead of time, like a pre-check in form online possibly or tell you to come prepared with the information so I could look up the items while at home or ahead of time to have the information they want (exact brands, etc). Provider was in the room for only a few minutes so it was very expensive for that amount of time I felt. Waiting room time was short but then sat in exam room for a long time before the vet came in.

Vet Tech Jared was very patient and gentle with Sophie even though she was unsure and squirming. I also appreciated the time he took to go over the medication instructions with us.

Veterinary services have grown exponentially more expensive over a very short period of time. Its making it difficult to care for our beloved pets. For essentially 20 minutes, my visit was well over $400 dollars and it was difficult to get an appointment at a convenient and close timeframe. I m most displeased with the increase year after year for more and more required tests to get preventative medications for my pet. Heartworm medication requiring blood tests is unnecessary testing for good pet owners and it is causing me and many people I talk to with pets to forego treatment unless something happens. I would love to bring my animal in more frequently but in just five years my costs for doing so with my pets has more than tripled for no increase in care or product. The staff are great here and the care is great but medications are growing outright ridiculous with requirements. Its increasingly more and more costly and difficult to be an ethical pet owner.

I do think there needs to be a better cat space in the Fargo office, The one in the Casselton location is lovely. The Fargo one is a bench. There are so many loud, scary dogs around! Otherwise, Wendy Thill is amazing, and I would recommend her to anyone.

When scheduling my appt for my puppy, they asked his age to get him in the computer—the scheduler proceeded to schedule an appt (wellneS exam and vaccines) before his 12 week birthday (he was 11 weeks and 3 days at the time of his visit) so they would not do the vaccines because he was not 12 weeks. It was a wasted trip to Casselton. Now we are trying to fit him in before he goes to the trainer for his necessary vaccines and seems as though there is no availability prior to that. Very frustrating.

I felt the Vet was all over the map when I would ask a question. I didn’t get a clear answer on what to do or what was going on with my dog. It was fine because I understand they are busy and my dogs issues weren’t a big deal. When I asked about the flea and tick and heart worm med I got all kinds of answers and she talked in circles. I left there not knowing anymore than I already knew.

Dr. Peterson was awesome and helped us with our senior horse needs. Our 24 year old mare needed some support for her arthritis and he recommended Adequan to try. And Dr. Peterson even gave us hug goodbye!

The vet we saw seemed new and not all that knowledgeable or comfortable with the treatment. I wasn’t told before I hauled a horse all the way there that the procedure couldn’t be done. Vet offered no alternative. I asked for X-rays for the farrier and the weird angle made them unusable by farrier.
